ASTON MARTIN ASIA CUP TO STAR ON THE STREETS OF SINGAPORE

After the summer break, it is a welcome return to action as the 7th round of the Aston Martin Asia Cup supports the Singaporean Formula One Grand Prix this weekend. The series will be welcoming new drivers alongside the regular competitors who are battling for the Championship title and the accompanying reward of a 2009 FIA GT4 seat in an Aston Martin Vantage N24.

Sri Lanka’s Dilantha Malagamuwa leads the AMAC Championship by just 5 points from Japan’s Kota Sasaki. Local driver Mel Choo will be keen to echo his Round 5 win in front of his home crowd. Fellow Singaporean drivers George Ong, David Lai, Ringo Chong and Nasrat Muzayyin will also be enjoying the opportunity to race on home soil. Indeed Nasrat’s Singapore based ConcordEnergy Racing team will be fielding a further two cars alongside his with Australian’s Simon Waters and Ryan Marsden taking the wheel ensuring plenty of interest for the Singaporean spectators.

Joining this round the series welcomes Britain’s Danny Watts, Japan’s Naoki Furuya and Philip Ma and Frank Yu both of Hong Kong.

The nature of the twisting street circuit which lines the harbour is a perfect place to demonstrate the Aston Martin’s N24 enviable handling. With long straights and no less than 23 turns, the 5km, anti-clockwise track will test the drivers and car to the limits.
