DOUBLE JOY FOR MALAGAMUWA IN ASTON MARTIN ASIA CUP OPENER.

It was a double victory for Dilantha Malagamuwa of Sri Lanka in the opening rounds of the inaugural Aston Martin Asia Cup (AMAC) held at Shanghai this weekend. The field of Michelin shod Aston Martin Vantage N24s put on a impressive duo of races which drew racers from across the region and beyond.

Malagamuwa, a double Malaysian Supercar Champion, put in a flawless drive to take the two victories in the new series which will award the Champion with a sponsored Aston Martin FIA GT4 drive in 2009.

The weekend's races echoed one another with Singaporean Sportscar stalwart Ringo Chong coming home second and Australian GT racer Mark Eddy third on both occasions.

The AMAC races were part of the C1 Celebrity Race Weekend which raises money and awareness for Chinese movie star, Jet Li's charity 'The One Foundation' which he founded in association with the Red Cross of China. Obviously, this weekend was extremely poignant in light of the recent earthquake tragedy in China. The Aston Martin Asia Cup organisers and participants were only too pleased to offer their support to The One Foundation's valuable work. Donations can be made via their website at www.one-foundation.com.
